Summary

A recap of a no-holds-barred evening hosted by the Upper Canada Land Titles & Patent Research Initiative on April 11.

What started as a deep dive into property rights and constitutional law quickly turned into a stark warning: Canada is sliding toward authoritarian control, and the window to push back is closing fast.

The night’s most jaw-dropping moment came during Q&A. When asked what direction he’d give young Canadians, law professor Bruce Pardy didn’t hesitate: “Get out.” He advised any young person who can find a merit-based opportunity elsewhere to take it. The audience literally gasped. Fellow guest speaker, constitutional scholar Shawn Buckley, agreed, painting a bleak picture of a generation raised under constant surveillance, stripped of any lived experience of real freedom or privacy, and conditioned as “trained victims” ready to accept Marxist solutions. At almost the exact same time, Liberals at their Montreal convention were floating a $500,000 exit tax on young professionals fleeing the country — a darkly ironic coincidence that underscored the tension.
